A modern business-style hotel named for the nearby music schools - very popular among organisers of various conferences. The glass sarcophagi with dolls dressed as famous opera characters in the lobby do seem a bit puzzling. Some of the rooms offer a view of the famous Lisbon Bridge but think twice before attempting to sleep next to an open window: the nocturnal traffic is never-ending, and so is the rattle. Although Vila Galé Ópera is located relatively close to Belém, it is hardly a walking distance. Be prepared to take a taxi to the city centre - and if business is not the sole purpose of your visit, that can be a serious drawback.
