Opened in 2008, Townhouse 27 is the first real boutique-style hotel in Belgrade. In terms of atmosphere, it possesses all of those intangible qualities that, upon arriving in a strange city for the first time, make you feel right at home. The small hotel has only 20 rooms, which are rather more like apartments, ranging in size from 32 to 60 m2. There's no hint of the stiffness common in traditional hotels, but rather a hospitable and homey ambiance; the owner can often be found in the lobby, chatting to guests.
The rooms are large, the interior design - contemporary, laconic and well thought-out. Nothing is unnecessary, yet nothing is lacking. Photographs, sculptures and other design elements give the restrained rooms personality. If you take a Junior Suite, the separate living room and bedroom will truly make you feel as if you're at home. Large windows (all can be opened) give a sense of space, and a small balcony facing the inner courtyard is a godsend to the committed smoker. All one needs for daily comfort is provided - a good breakfast, free wireless internet, a Bang&Olufsen television and a Nespresso coffee machine.
The knowledgeable staff will quickly and professionally take care of all your needs, including recommending the best restaurants and giving out helpful hints, e.g., it's best to call for a taxi rather than trying to catch one on the street. Townhouse 27 is right in the centre of Belgrade, on a quiet side-street and just a few-minutes' walk away from most of the city's main sights.
