One of the best sea food restaurants in Barcelona, a senior sibling of the legendary tapa bar Cal Pep. Located just nearby, yet you have to know it in order to find it - look for its entrance right next to La Caixa Bank and then go straight ahead along a narrow passageway... unlike from Cal Pep, there is more space, featuring several vaulted halls with stripped brick walls, tile flooring and impressive wine shelf. Everything is simple, unpretentious and genuine. A bottle of cava (15 euro) waits on a table and no menu at all. Sit down and let the cook decide for you. Just don't fail to tell them if you wish to have appetizers or a main course as well. The same way as at Cal Pep, menu consists of whatever the cook has brought from a fish market on a particular morning. Everything is fresh and delicious. Although tables are clad in white, the ambiance there is amazing - loud and vibrant. A meal for one can hardly exceed 60 - 70 Euros, if only you refrain from particularly expensive wines. Reservations should me made well in advance.
