Rigiblick, Zürich

Author: Mārtiņš Rītiņš

Zürich is one of those cities where you are guaranteed a stunning view regardless of where you go. The restaurant owned by Felix and Lucia Eppisser on one of the peaks of the Swiss mountains is a delight for eyes and taste buds alike. The family-run establishment with its contemporary minimalist two-storey layout offers a creative melange of Western and Eastern cuisines.
In the bistro bar on the ground floor the visitor is greeted by the sight of soft lounge sofas along the entire length of the wall, and a unique custom-made 23-foot oak wood table. On one side of the table the buzz of the patrons' conversations adds to the wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant, while on the far side of it, revealed by a narrow band of glass, lies the wine cellar. In the summer the food can also be enjoyed on a grand terrace.
It would be a sin to describe the service as anything less than perfect. The guests are attentively received, with an aperitif already waiting for them at their table. Forget well-starched, bowtie-adorned sommeliers - here the wine list (one of the best in Zürich) will be presented to you with a genuine smile and ready welcome.
The chef, Felix Eppisser, frequently brings back new ideas from his world travels and is not shy about immediately setting to try them out. On the menu, which changes quite often, you will find dishes like the heavenly roast chicken breast with morel mushrooms, tuna with a sweet and sour sauce and mango salad, and bouillabaisse with lemongrass. The cheese board is also fantastic. Everything is bright and colourful, and the chef's personal touch is evident in each dish. The portion sizes will please those who want to try everything, as it is rather difficult to deny yourself any of these gems.

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am - midnight
