The globally popular trend of book bars has reached Kiev among other cities; admittedly, Babuin, the most popular of Kiev book bars, is currently closed. Another of its owners' pet projects, the Antresol, is located in the very heart of the city, opposite the Premiere Palace hotel. It is definitely worth visiting both for its ambience and the pleasantly friendly pricelist. Do pick one of the upstairs tables: the atmosphere is nicer here and the crowd - more eye-catching. Students, local intellectuals, a fashion model or two - a mixed company and relaxed conversation. The ground floor of Antresol houses a small store featuring a nice, well though-out selection of books and a DVD collection. However, unlike the restaurant, the bookstore does not accept credit cards.
