While the once-popular Parisian Buddha Bar is experiencing a decline and retaining its leading position only in the charts of lounge music with its Buddha Bar series of compilations, the brand is continuing its expansion in the world. The restaurant recently opened in Kiev is the first Buddha Bar franchise in Eastern Europe; it cost its owner - the Mirovaya Karta restaurant chain - USD 1 million; another five million were invested in the restaurant itself. And that is exactly how this three-level 1400 square metre eatery looks like, both decor- and crowd-wise. The giant Buddha is where it should be (incidentally, it is said to weigh 1.5 tons and cost EUR 40 000). The first floor houses the restaurant proper, the second one - a lounge and the third floor is home to a VIP hall. Buddha Bar is still the most fashionable address in the list of Kiev's It hangouts (ideal, of course, for those seeking to experience the „local glamour"); the quality of food will not let you down, either: the Kiev Buddha Bar remains true to the brand's global image, serving fine - albeit expensive - Asian-style cuisine.
