Wyndham´s Theatre, a listed building of English Heritage, is one of the still-active West End theatres, frequently rented for its star-studded productions by the Donmar West End Company. Some of the most significant events on the Wyndham's Theatre stage included Jude Law's Hamlet and Dame Judi Dench's appearance in Madame de Sade. Designed in the late 1900s by the architect W.G.R. Sprague, Wyndham's Theatre was unveiled in the presence of the Prince of Wales; the extravagant Louis XVI-style auditorium with its opulently decorated balconies has retained its original look. Even the timeworn elaborately adorned curtain was replaced with a painstakingly exact copy in the 1960s. Wyndham´s Theatre is one of the finest theatre buildings in London; it has seen some of the top British actors of all time perform on its stage, including the likes of Alec Guinness and Vanessa Redgrave. Incidentally, it also was the venue of Madonna's London stage debut in 2002.
