Jonsi

Jón Þór Birgisson - or simply Jónsi - is the frontman of Sigur Rós, the Icelanders who, over the last ten years, have earned the status of a cult band and become a symbol of Icelandic culture alongside Björk. This spring saw Jónsi release an excellent debut album entitled Go. Even Kylie Minogue has admitted on Twitter to being a compulsive Jónsi listener. The music of Sigur Rós has frequently been pigeonholed as post-rock; the band's songs are performed by Jónsi in a made-up language. His Go solo album, on the other hand, features lovely and intelligent pop and the lyrics are in English and Icelandic. To those planning to attend his gigs Jónsi promises a multi-genre adventure in which music intertwines with film, art installations, theatre and animation.
