Katie Melua: European Tour, 28 May 2012 – 17 February 2013, London

The ever-significant tune of love until the final breath, featuring ostensibly trivial lyrics 'There are nine million bicycles in Beijing...' - it is perhaps this particular song performed by Katie Melua (1984) that this Georgian-born South Caucasian beauty with the unique voice is most often associated with.
The song, custom-written for Katie by the composer and producer Mike Batt, was included in her second studio album entitled Piece by Piece which brought the singer a platinum disc. The discoverer of the Georgian-born British singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar star Katie Melua had also made his contribution to her 2003 debut album Call Off the Search which made the UK Top Ten and sold 1.8 million copies in the first five months. Katie Melua's third studio album Pictures was released in October 2007 and The House, her fourth effort saw the daylight in 2010, this time - under the wing of William Orbit (best known for the three Grammy Awards his work on Madonna's Ray of Light brought him).
2012 has seen Katie Melua record a new studio album under the title of Secret Symphony, once again produced by Mike Batt.
In their reviews of Melua's new album, the music critics from the Polari Magazine emphasised the magical synergy of her unique vocals and the magnificent orchestra; the BBC reviewers praised the selection of songs including both original pieces and cover versions of well-known jazz and blues standards, saying that Melua owned them as if they had been written for her. As for the Independent Newspaper, it describes Katie Melua's latest offering as too constrained, indicating that the artist may have become too complacent.
You can make your own judgment once you have listened to the album and/or perhaps visited one of her European tour gigs scheduled through February 2013.
As you listen and watch the performance by this tender creature, do keep in mind the things we know about Katie's (also known as Ketino among her loved ones) secret life as an adrenaline junkie. Apparently, the reserved jazz and blues singer loves paragliding and hang-gliding and, asked about her collaboration with William Orbit, refers to her first experience of skydiving.
