Daylesford Organic In Notting Hill, London

Author: Mārtiņš Rītiņš

Organic food philosophy fostered by lady Bamford and her husband seems to be spreading fast throughout London and, who knows, pretty soon it may conquer the entire United Kingdom! Yet another London-located Daylesford Organic restaurant-store has opened its doors in November 2008, this time in Notting Hill area. Unlike its lofty, white-marble-clad counterparts elsewhere in London, it features warm and cozy rustic-style wooden décor. The famous name of Daylesford Organic attracts chic folks - the opening was attended by the top names in fashion, design and those involved in promoting bio-agriculture. Whatever it may be, Daylesford Organic firmly keeps to its high standards, offering organically grown, fresh and seasonal products, coming mostly from their own farm in Cotswolds area.
Stepping over the threshold, the entire complex of Daylesford Organic spreads open. Set out on several floors, the Larder restaurant, the Raw Bar and the Bread Bar wait their guests. Delicious sandwiches, freshly made salads, fried meats, seasonal vegetables, sauces and wine are available at take-away counters along with a vast choice of ready-to-cook food for the hasty ones. Everything is packed in special eco-friendly and multiple-use containers - just come again and refill! The restaurant, opposite the store, serves breakfasts from 8 am already, and it's time when local mamas in their wheel-chairs arrive. Isn't it a great way to start a day, discussing the latest news over delicious breakfast! Everything is perfect there, starting from scrambled eggs with salmon to fabulously served, simple oatmeal in a lovely bowl with thin slices of apple, fresh butter and a choice of jams, coming separately. Excellent coffee, fresh juices and, of course, aromatic bread, strait from the oven. The Bread Bar offers crisp croissants, delicious pastries, rolls and pizzas, everything baked on-site - order for take-away or taste on the spot. It is also a cozy place for a leisurely chat and cocktails before a meal.
The Raw Bar is sited on the Daylesford Organic ground floor, and everything is absolutely raw there - meat, fish, vegetables, and crisp shiitake mushrooms.
A refined home-goods department, sited a little aside, offers high-quality household items, including eco-friendly dishwashing liquids, garden utensils, artisan goods, apparels, Slow Food-themed books, and much more.
By the way, when booking a table, be sure to ask for a table on the very top with a lovely view over the entire Daylesford Organic, with people coming and going, shopping and eating...
