Still the most scandalous and provoking of British underwear companies, directly responsible for the undies taking over the catwalk. It's a small boudoir-style boutique with a black retro telephone in the changing room, staff uniforms matching the profile of the shop etc. Yet another proof to the assertion that you can't cheat your genes: Agent Provocateur was founded in 1994 by the son of Vivien Westwood and his wife.
One of the most scandalous provocations by Agent Provocateur has been Miss X, a series of 4-6 minutes long shorts by the British filmmaker Mike Figgis (Hotel, Leaving Las Vegas) starring none other than serial sinner, supermodel Kate Moss who even has a speaking part (she is famous for consistently refusing interviews) and delivers her lines in a gentle childwoman's voice. All four short films can be watched online on the Agent Provocateur website. Needless to add, this extra attraction caused a leap of an almost Olympic scale in the underwear business.
