Sia
The New York-based Australian-born eccentric and distinctive Sia Furler is simultaneously reminiscent of the Canadian singer Feist and the great daughter of Iceland Björk. While Sia has contributed to the albums of the fashionable band of electronic music Zero 7, she definitely has not left her own solo career unattended: May 2010 will see the release of her fourth album entitled We Are Born. To mentally prepare yourself for the singer's gig, you would be well-advised to listen to Some People Have Real Problems, Sia's previous album: it is absolutely fantastic! Sia works in the genre of alternative pop; you won't hear her songs on the radio or see her videos on the telly; however, they do penetrate your brain even faster than the most simple and obvious of pop hits. Her melodies and supple voice, capable of conjuring up any number of images, are genuine, filled with emotion and speak of absolute creative freedom. The singer is defined by her almost child-like determination and stubbornness which show through in her music and her behaviour. So the girl felt like painting her face with felt-tip pens - so she did exactly that and used the photo as the cover picture for her album. Her talent is appreciated by the pop star Christina Aguilera: Sia contributed to the singer's new album scheduled for release in the first half of 2010.
