Peter Gabriel is planning to resume his live performances this spring. His album Scratch My Back is the first one in eight years, and he has announced a start of a small concert tour called New Blood. Gabriel is dubbed a revolutionary of the era of video clips, world-famous for his innovative work, his enthusiasm for modern technologies and promotion of world music. This time, the 60-year-old musician emphasizes that he will be accompanied by an orchestra, with no drums and guitars. The majority of the program will consist of Scratch My Back songs. Interestingly, the album doesn't contain any of Gabriel's own compositions. Under a melancholic accompaniment of the orchestra, he will performs his favorite compositions of David Bowie, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Regina Spektor, Randy Newman, Paul Simon, Talking Heads, Radiohead, the Magnetic Fields, Arcade Fire, Elbow and Bon Iver. A logical continuation to this project promises to be an album I'll Scratch Yours, planned to appear in May. Recorded by the above mentioned artists, it will contain cover versions of solely Gabriel's songs.
