The small luxury hotel chain Firmdale Hotels, owned by a husband and wife team, Tim and Kit Kemp, has acquired a significant role on the London's hotel scene (e.g. hotel Number Sixteen and Haymarket Hotel). Now, they have launched their first hotel in New York as well. 88-bedrom Crosby Street Hotel is set in a former Manhattan parking lot. Firmdale Hotels are famous for their funky colors, so distinctive in the midst of commonly minimalistic hotel design, and it refers to Crosby Street Hotel as well. It features splashes of bold hues, combinations different textures of fabrics and a slick mix of modern and antique furniture, adding a bohemian touch. A special element of each room is a dressmaker's dummy, done up with some peculiar fabric, serving for both decorative and functional purposes, as you can hang a jacket or a scarf on it, too! Crosby Street Hotel boasts a modern, 99-seat screening room, and is the first hotel in New York that has achieved a prestigious LEED certification, which confirms the project's eco-friendliness down to the slightest detail.
