Insider: Ieva Imša

Ieva Imša is a stylist and has been living in London for more than ten years. One of her favourite rendezvous spots is the Columbia Street flower market in North East London. "It's located in a bohemian and intimate part of the city favoured by young people. Lots of fantastic plants and flowers, but the main attraction still is the ambience of the place. I go there to have a cup of tea, treat myself to some oysters, buy a rare book or some other antique object or a vintage dress."

The Broadway Farmers Market is the ultimate haven for gourmets and delicacy fanciers. You can buy the most fantastic huge cheeses, oysters, the finest wines and other delicacies there. "This is one of the oldest markets in London, a perfect spot to enjoy the English holiday culture, have a pint at the local pub and treat oneself to something delicious."

The Spitafields Market in East London is best visited on a Saturday or Sunday if you feel like enjoying some nice atmosphere and perhaps find an antique trinket for home or buy a bohemian dress.

Slaughtered Lamb in East London (34-35 Great Sutton Street, EC1) is a bohemian pub for cool Londoners. If you are looking for a special treat, look no further than Fortnum & Mason (181 Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus, www.fortnumandmason.com), one of the oldest, most traditional, exclusive and prominent Old England stores in London. „It's definitely worth a visit; you will be able to buy some exotic or traditional tea, fine chocolates and various other treats. The store is large and very beautiful; you can also enjoy a traditional afternoon tea on the top floor."

And yet the ultimate place for your afternoon tea - if you take it around 4 pm - is the Wolseley (160 Piccadilly, Green Park Station, www.thewolseley.com), a classic English restaurant that enjoys the finest of reputations.
To people with good taste she sincerely recommends Miller's Residence (www.millersuk.com), a tiny and cosy hotel in West London, Notting Hill, with just eight rooms. "One feels like a guest in the home of a sophisticated bohemian grandmother." You can also stay at the Art Deco style Great Eastern Hotel in East London (Liverpool Street), right next to Liverpool Street Station.
„If you happen to be in London on a Tuesday night, be sure to visit the Café Royal club (Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus) where extremely elegantly dressed young people amuse themselves drinking champagne, dancing and listening to the 1920s and 1950s music. The ambience is very cool, you have to spruce up for the occasion: do try to avoid looking like Eurotrash touristy types. You also won't feel comfortable in a miniskirt or tackily dressed. In that case it's better to stay away. Jeans and trainers are off limits. Dress code - in keeping with the music. The club is open 9 pm - 3 am."

The Beautiful and the Damned night at the Boogaloo club in North London (312 Archway Road, N6) on Thursdays 9 pm - 00.30 am is a real underground event for dandies and bohemians, for those who love the Old World. Elegance of the 1920s and 1930s, dancing and silent movies. "Dress in style - drain pipe trousers, tweed costumes, suits, big hats, beads and neckerchiefs will do just fine."
