Jewellery by Artists: From Picasso to Koons, an exhibition organised by the culture and art portal Arterritory.com

News · Europe · latvia · Riga

On Saturday, September 4, starting at 8 p.m., a charitable/artistic photography exhibit entitled "Bear Around the World" will be held at the cocktail bar and house of culture "Sapņi un kokteiļi" at 32 Blaumaņa iela, as part of "White Night 2010" (Baltā nakts 2010).

Last year, young fashion designers created many tens of toy bears out of leftover pieces of fabric as part of "Survival Kit", a project of "White Night 2009". Everyone was also invited to participate in a charitable art auction, where donors could acquire an artist-created toy bear of their choice. A total of LVL 695.38 was thus raised and donated to the "Ziedot.lv" project "Let's Help the Little Hearts" ("Palīdzēsim mazajām sirsniņām").

One of the toy bears has spent the entire year travelling around the globe with the support of the portal www.anothertravelguide.com, and the photo exhibition will serve as a chance to track its adventures in various countries of the world. During the exhibit, it will be possible to purchase postcards with reproductions of the artwork as a way of supporting the campaign "Get the Bear a Salmon!" ("Uzsauc lācim lasi!"). The funds raised this way will be presented to Romeo, the polar bear at our zoo, who has now reached retirement age. You will be able to send the postcards bought here to your loved ones in any corner of the earth using the mobile postal station on location.

This artistic/charitable photo exhibit will show how traditional travel habits can acquire a new breath and unite people in helping one another, which is one of the most important values in life anywhere in this vast world.
