Hotel Missoni

The history of the Italian fashion house Missoni started in 1953 with just four knitting machines bought by newlyweds, Rosita and Ottavio Missoni. In our day, Missoni designs have become fashion classics and are recognized all over the world for their vivid colors and distinctive zigzag-striped patterns. In the 80s, the Missoni Home line was launched featuring home décor items and textiles. Therefore, Hotel Missoni Edinburgh, opened in June 2009, seems like a logical development of Missoni lifestyle brand. Sited in the very heart of the city, it is just few steps off the Edinburgh Castle. The project was completed in cooperation with Rezidor Hotel Group and is the first one of several Missoni hotels, planned to follow. Its interior is designed by the creative director of the fashion house, Rosita Missoni, herself. Prevailingly monochrome palette of white, silver and black is like a well-prepared canvas that serves as a perfect background for brilliant flashes of color, unmistakable Missoni patterns and plenty of design elements representing renowned names, like Arne Jacobson, Eero Saarinen and Charles Rennie Mackintosh and many more. Hotel Missoni spans over 6 floors, totaling 136 rooms. Each bathroom features custom made Missoni toiletries, created specially for this project. The hotel houses Italian restaurant Cucina and a bar offering Missoni cocktails. Another Missoni hotel is expected to be opened in Kuwait still this year.
