12th Venice Architecture Biennale. 29 August – 21 November

The Venice Architecture Biennale is one of the world's most important
architectural events. The twelfth annual Biennale is a place to see the most outstanding current architectural projects and to meet the brightest minds in the field. It is also an arena for discussion and a platform for the birth of new values, ideas, and trends. This year's Biennale is especially intriguing because it is curatated by the
Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima from SANAA, who recently won the most prestigious award in architecture, the Pritzker Prize. This year, the Biennale's motto
is "People Meet in Architecture"; architects from 54 countries will participate in the events. Kazuyo Sejima says: "The idea is to help people relate to architecture, help
architecture relate to people, and help people relate to themselves."
Some of the special features of the Venice Biennale include that fact that works by representatives of other creative industries will be on view alongside the traditional architecture show, inviting the viewers (and professionals) to view architectural challenges within a significantly wider context. Another new addition to the regular programme will be the so-called Architecture Saturday series of discussions and performances featuring well-know architects, critics and other outstanding creative figures.
