Nick Cave & Grinderman

Nick Cave & Grinderman

Musician, writer and screenwriter Nick Cave is an impressive phenomenon, and Grinderman is one his most fascinating undertakings. The band released its first album in 2007, and autumn of 2010 brings its second offering and a new tour. So what sets Grinderman apart from Nick Cave's 'classic' band, The Bad Seeds? As a member of the Grinderman quartet Nick Cave allows himself to do many things he has not braved with The Bad Seeds (even though the same musicians play in both bands). The music of Grinderman is blues-derived brutal and savage testosterone rock. Their songs are about sex, male ageing and general crisis of masculinity in the modern world. Grinderman create through improvisation - both lyrics and music are born right at the studio, at the time of recording. With The Bad Seeds, Nick Cave plays powerful, aristocratic music that is in keeping with the tradition of that band, while Grinderman allows him to completely surrender to creative chaos, musical rampage and precarious experimentation, and explore the yet-unexamined territories of his talent.
