KÀ, Cirque du Soleil
Robert Lepage, one of the top Canadian stage directors, compares Las Vegas to the Italy of the Renaissance era and rejects any accusations of exaggeration. He describes the processes taking place in Las Vegas as directly opposite to what has been going on in Hollywood. Tinseltown, Lepage says, mostly sticks to safe recipes of success and invests in well-tried projects. Las Vegas, on the other hand, is interested in new things, in groundbreaking first-of-the-kind stuff. Local multimillionaires and billionaires invest their money to make sure Las Vegas is where innovations are born and invite the best artists in the world setting a single condition: they have to create something that has never been seen before. The artists are free to avail of practically unlimited resources of time and money. Following these rules, Robert Lepage and the Canadian Cirque du Soleil circus company have created KÀ, a show that expands the human abilities of the actors and circus artists with the help of the latest technology and borders on the miraculous.
