Riad 72

A Marrakech style destination, owned by a charming Italian photographer Giovanna Sinel whose Moroccan story started like so many fellow Europeans' had: a couple of years ago she visited Marrakech on a holiday with her mother; when Giovanna returned it was to stay. She has studied photography and even had a solo exhibition in Milan before moving to Morocco; her great love was black and white photography at the time.
Riad 72 is a symbiosis of Moroccan and Italian design traditions, a real gem of style. It is somewhat higher than most other medina buildings; huge banana trees grow in the courtyard, their crowns reaching into the sky. A soft whisper of water, above you - an endless vastness of blue skies. Riad 72 has only four rooms and a terrace with one of the most beautiful views on the medina rooftops and the Atlas Mountains looming in the distance.

Rates: EUR 125-300, depending on the room.
