A place where dinner becomes an experience for all of your senses - a 14th century hotel palace, inspired by Islamic architecture; the owners are Europeans who share their story with dozens of others: they have fallen in love with Marrakech on their first visit. Although the interior creates an impression of antiquity, everything is quite new. Every little detail has been given some thought: his and her bathroom kits, the two London black cabs owned by the hotel, etc.
The chef has trained with the legendary Alain Ducasse; there are always plenty of fresh greens from the restaurant's kitchen garden (trust me, once you turn to the traditional Moroccan cuisine, you will develop a real craving for these herbs). Dinner is served in a restaurant room with enormous windows with garden and poolside views and a ceiling as high as a church, in the garden (among orchids and under fig trees) or by the pool.
Definitely do book in advance, otherwise you will never get in: as with many Marrakech spots, random passers-by won't even notice the place, well hidden behind a wall, and have no way of dropping by to satisfy their curiosity. As a hotel Ksar Char-Bagh is considered a respectable alternative to the Amanjena Hotel, famous for its luxury, yet it is much more intimate (no tennis courts etc.); the Moroccan royal family sometimes spends time here among other guests.
