Avan Villa Yerevan

Avan Villa Yerevan, the only boutique hotel in Yerevan, is the pet project of the American-based Armenian entrepreneur and philanthropist James Tufenkian. Opened in 2001, it became the first hotel of the now well known Tufenkian Heritage Hotels chain. Like at any other of Tufenkian's hotels, the decor and furniture were made by the local artisans, creating a brilliant blend of antique objects and contemporary design. An ever-present decor element is the famous Tufenkian carpets, hand-made by Armenian or Nepalese masters; however, you will also find some authentic 19th-century masterpieces. As far as the decor is concerned, Avan Villa Yerevan is definitely the best hotel there is in the Armenian capital - and yet there is a serious fault to it: the location. It is quite a distance to the city centre: you cannot get anywhere interesting on foot and have to rely on taxis.
