The One Hotel

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

The most unique and, at the same time, one of the most romantic hotels in Siem Reap - a tempting oasis for a tête à tête. It is a hotel of just a single suite - but what a suite that is! It comes with a roof terrace (complete with a Jacuzzi, of course) and a view of the Old Town rooftops, a staff working exclusively for you and a chef cooking dinner for your pleasure only. The first-floor lobby with its black tile floor, red lounge and velvet ottomans also serves as a small souvenir shop. The decor is a mixture of the colonial style architecture and contemporary design. Bed linen from Frette, silk cushions from Eric Raisina (see Where to Shop), iPod music, a small balcony, a DVD player, a bathroom for two, etc. The One Hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town, the Old Market - also the city's bar and restaurant - district; the next door building houses an art gallery but the one opposite the hotel is the home to the Linga Bar owned by Martin Dishman, the proprietor of The One Hotel: it means excellent cocktails and - practically always - an ongoing art exhibition of some sort. Spring 2008 will see Be Angkor, a three-suite sibling hotel-cum-art gallery, open its door next to The One Hotel. Unlike The One Hotel where children are not welcome, Be Angkor is planned as a child-friendly accommodation.
