Jia Shanghai

A five-floor building, housing Jia Shanghai hotel amazes with its exceptional and quite eclectic design and displays a deep respect for Chinese culture. It is a masterpiece of French designer, Philippe Starck, who has managed to create a cross between a home and a hotel. Each spacious room contains a small kitchenette where guests can make some tea, for example. Large bathrooms are supplied with heaps of towels and huge beds with soft duvets. Everything is well-planned and in perfect harmony, with no provoking or shocking details as it might be expected. The true nature of enfant terrible of the design world appears only in the lobby where Starck has conjured up eclectic China with touches of bright tones in the midst of otherwise dark décor. It stuns with peculiar colors and textures of sofas, chairs of different styles and bird cage lamps - a typical Starck, so to say!
The hotel houses an Italian restaurant, excelling both in service and cuisine.
