Fake Market

Indeed, Shanghai cannot be really imagined without its fake markets! Due to government restrictions, these markets are regularly closed down, but, changing their address, they emerge again somewhere else. One of such markets, which cannot boast a very long history of existence however, is located on 580 Nanjing Road. It offers fake Apple production, good quality pirate DVDs and counterfeit clothes of expensive brands. There you can dig up some amazing finds as well! I was lucky enough to come across the very dress I need for my current filming project - a perfect Herve Leger gown. Moreover, the original one, with just a spoiled label!
The market is rarely visited by locals, yet definitely worth stopping by to enjoy its special atmosphere. It's a chance to test your haggling skills and perhaps hit upon some fine quality treasures. Speaking of haggling, vendors may seem rather aggressive in the beginning, yet soon you will discover that it's not really so. For the most part, they are quite poorly paid hired workers, who are trying to sell their goods side by side with thousands of others, who sell the exact same things. They play all possible tricks to keep you at their counter and even grab you by hand, as you are already leaving. Just keep cool and perceive it as a peculiar performance. Vendors do like to haggle, and perhaps you shouldn't offer too tiny amounts in order not to offend them. It's very handy to know the real prices of things, and it's easy to find them out in advance by visiting the local e-bay type online shop www.taobao.com
