As a fashion designer, I would most certainly suggest visiting Trim/Fabric - an ultimate destination for buying fashion accessories and trims. It is located in the ancient Yuyuan Garden, adjacent to the Old City God's Temple. Surrounded by classical Chinese architecture, it differs greatly from its counterparts, offering typical Chinese array of tourist-focused fashion goods - traditional dresses, fans and bags. This three-floor market is a true treasure chest of buttons and thread rolls. Exuberance of feathers, buckles and other trimmings opens up entirely new horizons for creativity and gathers mostly representatives of creative industries.
Two more worth visiting fabric markets are located nearby - Shanghai Shiliu Puhong Qixiang Cloth Market (address: 168 Dongmen Road) and Shanghai South Bund Fabric Market (address: 399 Lujiabang Road), offering a wide selection of fabrics and accessories. It's a great place to order custom made clothing as well. The three-floor market contains numerous small shops, each of them featuring its own specialty. There you can buy fabrics and order clothing, anything from suit to evening gown - fast, cheap and good quality!
