Purity

Purity, the younger sister of Malabar Escapes, the most exclusive and charming boutique accommodation chains in Kerala, is also the first real luxury spa hotel in this Indian state. Located on the bank of Lake Vembanad, the tiny hotel, in keeping with the philosophy of Malabar Escapes, features just six rooms (including the Vembanad Suite and a separate garden cottage).
Purity stands for complete peace and no echoes of the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The landscape itself serves as a healing spa. As twilight sets in, the massive Chinese fishing baskets cast decorative shadows on the expanse of water; the setting sun outlines with gold the silhouettes of the gliding boats. The features of the landscape reflected in the mirror of the lake change every minute, drawing surreal pictures best watched reclining in the pillows of the waterfront pavilion.
The decor of the rooms is dominated by the vivid Indian colours, almost echoing the legendary comment by the equally legendary fashion icon Diana Vreeland: 'Pink is the navy blue of India'. The vivid, vibrant colours of the natural silk pillows resonate with the snow-whiteness of the crisp bed sheets; together, they make for the sophisticated bedding shared by all six Purity rooms. Terraces for perfectly enjoyable meals; spacious bathrooms; beauty products by the well-know Indian Ayurvedic KAMA brand, as well as other aspects of contemporary quality comfort here live side by side with the presence of Indian history and contemporary art: examples of contemporary art, both sculptures and paintings, rub shoulders with relics of historical Indian culture. Special attention is paid to lighting up the artistic masterpieces: it is very often various materials, for instance, painted glass, which, brought to life by skilfully chosen light, conjure up a special ambience in the rooms.
The small intimate spa comprising two treatment rooms features an excellent range of Ayurvedic treatments (offering courses designed both for guests staying for a couple of days and several weeks); it is the first Keralan spa by the well-known Indian Ayurvedic cosmetic brand KAMA. The treatments are selected to suit the individual needs of each guest and are supervised by a certified Ayurvedic doctor. The Purity menu is likewise based on the principles of healthy lifestyle.
Eight more rooms are planned to be added in the future; although construction work is in progress in the vicinity, you are not very likely to even notice it during your stay at Purity.
Local colours and ambience can be enjoyed on the other side of the Purity gate; although you see backbreaking hard work on every step, people's thoughts seem to be dominated by genuine joy of life, their faces - by smiles and clothes and jewellery - by colour.
