Jew Street, Fort Kochi

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

There was a time when practically every house in this street was owned by Jews. Most descendants of the original proprietors now live in Israel, but some of the traditions are still alive. This is one of the best places for shopping. You will find anything, from aromatic oils and Ayurvedic soap to organic spices and antiques - including countless versions of the famous Kerala coconut oil. It is said to be the secret behind the long and thick hair of the local ladies, due to its nourishing properties. Both women and men often use it for hair masks before washing.
