The Table

The Table Restaurant is set in the very heart of Colaba where it is rubbing shoulders with the European and popular Indigo Deli, the nearby lifestyle temple Bungalow 8 and the treasure trove that is the D.Popli and Sons jewellery store - in other words, in the epicentre of the very best Mumbai shopping routes.
The Table is an excellent choice for dinner - or lunch - if you have already spent a considerable time in India and, having explored the local cuisine enthusiastically for weeks, have now succumbed to a certain curry fatigue: you have had enough of the authentic flavours and the countless variations on the curry theme for the time being.
Using local ingredients (the best of the best) and embracing a wealth of culinary traditions from different parts of the world, the American chef Alex Sanchez has created a diverse fusion gourmet menu which has proven to be good enough to make The Table a world class restaurant. During its short time of existence, The Table has already won the 2011 TimeOut Food Award in the Best Chef category while CNN Go rated it among the top ten restaurants in Mumbai. Quite recently the restaurant also won the Times Nightlife Award in the Best Debut category and the Times Good Food Award in the Best European/Global Cuisine category.
Just to whet your appetite, a selection of the gems featured in the Table Restaurant's menu: dim sum dumplings with ginger broth; perfectly grilled baby squid, chopped with fresh coriander and mint; fresh crab cakes or Western-style seared tuna with sesame seeds...
By no means a white-tablecloth restaurant, The Table with its understated and neutral dark wood-dominated decor - which somehow still manages to convey a sense of light hedonism - offers a choice of a 'communal mode' meal at the long bar-counter or a more intimate one to be had in a stylised top-floor mansard room.
Excellent service and a gourmet-friendly pricelist.
