Fabindia

Fabindia branches are stretching all across India and it is the very place to visit if you search for fine quality home textiles, cotton shirts and modern adaptations of traditional Indian garments. You'll find there also departments of Ayurvedic medicine products, organic foodstuffs and women and children's clothing.
Fabindia was established in 1960 by an American John Bissell who arrived in India on a Ford Foundation grant. He was amazed by unique craftsmanship of Indian weavers and shocked by their harsh living conditions. Fabindia's vision was to preserve local skills and traditions at the same time giving Indian artisans a stable income. Nowadays the company has developed into an empire employing over 15000 craftsmen in different parts of India. There are fourteen Fabindia stores in Mumbai, the largest one in Kala Ghoda area. It's a huge shop spreading over several floors and offering both modern and traditional style clothing and featuring a truly dazzling multitude of colors, texture and design. Literally a place for every taste!
A shirt or pants at Fabindia costs about 400-500 rupees, bed linen - starting from 1000 rupees. It may happen though that a seam of a garment for such a price comes undone, yet the material itself is very good and purely natural, therefore a tiny problem like that can easily be forgiven.
