Hakone

Located 100km from Tokyo, Hakone forms an area of Fuji-Hakone-Izu national park. It features an amazing synergy between art and nature with gems of experimental modern sculpture and painting fitting in just perfectly into its picturesque landscapes where the building of the POLA Museum of Art exists side by side with a serene Nara period shrine.
There you can contemplate Fuji mountaintop, usually hiding in the shadow, although suddenly it may surprise you with unexpected brightness when the sun dips it into gold, soak your feet in hot spring water and experience the healing power of nature.
Ancient and authentic Hakone amazes with its antique shops and traditional Japanese guest house ryokan where guests can sleep on tatami - a straw mat, rolled up every morning before breakfast is served. A mountain railway line Hakone Tozan is the oldest railway in Japan, crossing numerous bridges, crawling through tunnels and passing through fabulous orchid gardens...
You wouldn't regret spending more time in Hakone, even three days; stepping off the train in every stop, you can always discover something amazing, scenic and romantic.
