Fakhr El Din

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Fakhr El Din has been widely recognized as the best restaurant in Amman and is an ideal place to enjoy the local cuisine in all of its splendour. This eating establishment is located in a historical villa from the 1950s in the Jebel Amman district. The original interior, including its black-and-white tiled floor, large, arc-shaped windows and latticed metal doors, has been preserved almost in its entirety, providing a feel of a period when Amman's city centre, which has traditionally been home to the Jordanian elite, was just beginning to flourish.

The restaurant's menu is quite extensive and its prices are reasonable, while its service embodies genuine Arab hospitality. As is customary in authentic eateries from this region, the starters consist of mezze, hummus, vine leaves stuffed with rice and peppermint, tabbouleh and fattoush. The grilled lamb of the main course is so soft, mild and juicy that it literally melts in your mouth. It is difficult to find a free table during the evening hours, so try to make a reservation in advance.
