Eléphant Blanc is as stylistically perfect as the hotel it shares the building with, Maison Souvannphoum. The most romantic tables are those by the poolside - rarely occupied during the evening meal as it gets quite chilly soon after the sunset in Luang Prabang. The actual dining hall is quite small with just a few tables, candles, excellent crockery and glasses and perfect service (probably the best in Luang Prabang). A very good choice of French wines and a menu that offers a mixture of Asian and French cuisines. Sadly, as often is the case at places of this style, the atmosphere and the customers are a bit on the stiff and formal side. Not exactly what springs to mind thinking of Luang Prabang.
