The Club Hotel

The 22-room luxury boutique hotel is housed opposite the red extravagance-oozing Scarlet Hotel, in an early 20th-century building with a solemn-looking snow-white façade. The interior matches the outside in its unblemished whiteness. The only elements that save one from getting lost in this white purity of soul and infinity of total whiteness are the rare little touches of black - an ornament, a sample of calligraphy, a fragment of nature or a piece of colonial-style furniture, helping to stay grounded and in touch with reality. This contemporary minimalist-style harmony of yin and yang is complemented by the atmosphere created by the play of cleverly designed coloured lights.
The black-and-white chess board that is the hotel's rooftop terrace bar offers the perfect vantage point on the architectural figures of the city - the royal presence of the historical wood-carved buildings and the modernity and ambition of the glass and titanium high-risers.
