Arriving in Dushanbe on a sunny day gives an impression that people are embracing and celebrating life to the fullest. Parks and cafes are swarm with people, local pop groups perform on an improvised stage, built in the centre of the city, and air is filled with the aroma of freshly fried shashlik. Majority of women wear typical Tajik clothes - pants and long tunics. Bright patterns make them look like flowers and the whole city seems blooming. Kids run and play everywhere. To get a better sense of Dushanbe soul, you have to find a vacant table in the Central park café (at the side of Opera house) close to the improvised stage, order shashlik and immerse yourself in contemplation of vibrant life swarming around and brimming over with vigor and joy. Tajiks like to enjoy themselves and it is catching!
