Victory Park summer café

This café does not have any other name and is opened only in summer, yet it is easy to locate it anyway - it is sited right next to the Victory Park funicular, and every taxi driver knows it. Perhaps it could be called a panorama café as well, as the Victory Park is situated on the hilltop a little outside of Dushanbe and offers a great view of the city. Tables with straw sunshades are scattered on the hillside while the whole city spreads at your feet. Fresh mountain wind blows in the evenings, and you cannot imagine a better spot for an undisturbed conversation. The menu is pretty vast and offers good choice of meat dishes and salads. Good selection of wines (the owner imports them from Russia), and very friendly prices. A bottle of the best white wine costs 46 Somoni. Now and then, the funicular is put in motion, although the locals do not suggest trying it - built back in Soviet-era, the line hasn't seen any repair or maintenance for ages. Yet its gray concrete wall sometimes serves as a screen for a football championship or a concert. It is definitely a place to remember and to return to...
