XVA cafe

The café of the XVA art gallery-cum-hotel is the perfect hideout for those weary of the countless skyscrapers and the feel of a perpetual building ground. It is located in the Bastakiya district, often referred to as the Old Town of Dubai, also home to majority of art galleries in the city - in an authentic and well-renovated hundred year-old building (incidentally, quite a rarity in this city). As soon as you set foot inside the XVA art gallery, finding yourself in a traditional Arab-style courtyard with its café tables, a pleasantly calming sense of comfort engulfs you - it is a bit like coming home. Do check out the adjacent art gallery with frequently changing exhibitions and the small store selling all sorts of clever knickknacks. The speciality of the XVA Café is vegetarian food: salads, soups and sandwiches. Don't leave without sampling their mint soft drink - just what the doctor ordered for the Dubai climate!
Lunch for two: Dhs 100 - 200 on average.
