Lyabi-Hauz

Lyabi-Hauz Square, dating back to 1620, is situated in the very heart of Bukhara. Lots of small cafes and restaurants are scattered all around the pool, with centenarian mulberry trees casting their shadows over them, and ducks splashing in the water. A fantastic, relaxed ambiance marks this place. Lyabi-Hauz eateries cannot boast the very best cuisine of the city perhaps, yet voices are buzzing and tables are always occupied. It is worth immersing yourself in the colorful mix of locals and foreigners, at least once, and to savor a leisurely meal there. Just be sure to urge a waiter to make some decent effort. Say, if shashlik tastes like fried rubber, we're not going to pay! It's locals' advice, and, funny enough, it really works!
