The 2001-opened Vienna Museumsquartier (MQ) - Museum Quarter - is the eighth largest cultural area in the world. Comprising a complex of converted baroque stables and a modern new-build structure designed by Ortner&Ortner, MQ currently houses the Leopold Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Kunsthalle Wien exhibition hall, the Vienna Centre for Architecture, the quarter21 Centre for Alternative Art and regularly hosts a number of festivals: the Wiener Festwochen art festival, the Viennale film festival, the ImPulsTanz international dance festival, etc.
