Whilst in the Old City, one can wander into the Café Korb at Brandstätte 9. This is another legendary Vienna institution, catering to coffee lovers since 1904. At first glance, crossing the threshold, it mightn't seem so special. Black and white photos on the walls and wooden newspaper racks, the clientele deep in the papers. This isn't Hawelka and the café lacks the patina of such a place. But you can't see the cellar until you descend. Down there, the Korb's interior will surprise you. Susanne Widl, a well-known model, actress and performance artist in the 1960s, is the current proprietor.
