Sanders Hotel

To all you lovers of art, music, and dance – pack your bags! It’s worth taking a trip to Copenhagen just to try out the new Sanders Hotel, which will open on November 1. Owned and conceived of by Danish ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin, the hotel is located right in the heart of the city, behind the Royal Danish Theatre. The interior, designed in collaboration with the London-based design studio Lind + Almond, is inspired by the day-to-day life of a ballet troupe: the stage, rehearsals, and also tours and travelling. The elegant, eclectic mix brings together Parisian refinement, British eccentricity, and Danish asceticism.

The Sanders Hotel has 54 rooms, each with its own unique character. For example, the Coupé single room brings to mind an old-time Grand Tour, which usually meant travelling by train in a luxury car. A Sanders Apartment has a separate lounge zone and even a fireplace, spoiling guests with surroundings even a prima ballerina would appreciate. Naturally, the hotel has its own art collection inspired by dance – movement, music, and the virtuosity of the human body. The artwork is mostly by young artists from America, Great Britain, Germany, and Greece and thereby accents the international character of ballet and the hotel itself.
