Hotel Glo

Opened in 2007, the Hotel Glo is located in the very heart of the city - opposite to the legendary Cafe Fazer, and right next to Palace Kämp, a posh representative of Helsinki hotel scene. Belonging to the same Palace Kämp Group, Glo doesn't try to outmatch the neighbor's luxury but positions itself as a modern and urban lifestyle hotel. Vibrant, lively and democratic, it does not sacrifice a tiny bit of the expected comfort. Moreover, it boasts to have perhaps the best standard rooms Helsinki can currently offer. Untypically large for European hotels (the best ones in this respect being the rooms with numbers ending in -31), they feature perfectly thought-out décor. A very comfortable bed, wooden flooring, good lighting, a warm palette of beige and brown, and a sufficiently spacious bathroom. A table is there if you have to work a little, and a perfect musical background is provided by Tivoli audio system. Free wireless internet and an outstanding service. "Wouldn't it be lovely to stay a little longer" is a thought that crosses your mind upon departure - and, indeed, what more can be expected from a hotel! Hotel Glo has 144 rooms, and all suites include free entrance to Palace Kämp Day Spa. The only slip seems to be the décor of the lobby, furnished with bright-red, rather low and crammed together seats, and a shopping centre view opening up right behind it. However, for a hotel sited in the very epicenter of the city life, it can be viewed as an advantage as well. A store of Finnish fashion design classic, Marimekko, is just a stones throw away, too.

Rates from 156 Euro.
