Aarikka

If trees could laugh, they would do so, spilling colorful Aarikka wooden beads that would form bright and joyful strings of small giggles and roaring laughter then.
Skilled craftsmen of the company create these wooden jewels with a lapidary precision, the greatest value of them being their pure shape and unconcealed natural texture with encoded into it annual rings.
Snow-white, lavender, purple, turquoise, coral and many other colors can instantly become your favorite ones as you behold them in colorful strings of Aarikka necklaces and bracelets.
Aside from its expressive accessories, Aarikka features interior design items both for daily usage and festive occasions. Some of Aarikka's ornament collections have become a legendary possession of almost every Finnish family, for example, Christmas elves. An annual supplementation of their collection has reached the third generation already. A must-have Aarikka item is also a cute lamb figurine.
The company's history traces back to 1954 when young Kaija Aarikka was about to graduate as a textile designer. Unable to find suitable wooden buttons for a costume she had designed, Aarikka decided to make them herself, and these five buttons turned out to mark the beginning of the family business. During the past seven decades, the company has attracted acclaimed Finnish design masters to purposefully broaden its creative repertoire. Social employment idea has been part of Aarikka's mission since the 1970s, providing working places for socially vulnerable groups of people.
