Punkalive

Free-flowing shapes are a distinctive feature of Punkalive's wood furniture, its special plasticity being achieved by innovative technologies. Some of the bending items of Punkalive furniture resemble amorphous objects that can constantly change their shape, forming new and new loops.
Punkalive company is sited in a rural district of Punkaharju in eastern Finland, the same area where the Finnish Forest Museum and the Finnish Forest Research Institute are located. In a fairly short period of time, Punkalive's ecological wooden designs have achieved international recognition and become a part of New Nordic design experience, presented and promoted by Nordic avant-garde platform ÖÖ:.
A world-famous industrial designer Karim Rashid teamed up with Punkalive last year, while his most renowned works have been created in collaboration with Umbra and Prada and are now displayed at New York's Museum of Modern Art and British Design Museum in London. In 2011, Punkalive introduced Karim Rashid's High Roller and Low Roller - a futuristic yet natural set of chairs and coffee tables, as well as Maya stackable chairs, inspired by constructions of ancient American civilizations.
