Antti Asplund

One wouldn't go wrong dubbing Antti Asplund label a drama king of Finnish fashion scene. Antti Asplund is an icon of eccentricity of Finnish street fashion and comes up with numerous dramatic and romantic scenarios in his black & white collections, represented also in theatrical attires of the designer himself, complemented with massive, omnipresent pendants of equi-beam cross. Greek cross has been picked by the young designer as protection for his broken heart and as a symbol of his brand and was first presented in his debut collection Funeral dresses in 2007. Antti Asplund creates his experimental fashion collections, fusing elements of fashion, art and theatre, each collection featuring its own story or an intriguing, provocative title, e.g. Frivolous Women, Poisongardens, Lost Boys or Crying Kids Collection. The later one, featuring black & white photo prints, is currently available along with Laura Vartio accessories at Iso Roobertinkatu 38 and other Helsinki Design District addresses.
