Centre Georges Pompidou

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

The most visited of Paris museums. The building designed in 1975 by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers is one of the symbols of Paris. A truly revolutionary concept for those times - like a dress with seams on the outside. Visitors go up on an outside escalator, moving along the external wall of the building and enjoying the panoramic view of Paris. The culmination of the visit is a meal at the Georges restaurant on the roof of the Pompidou Centre. After 20 years of existence the museum was closed for the first reconstruction, and in 2000 new exhibition halls were added.
