Palais de Tokyo

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

The most extravagant home of modern art projects in Paris. The robust shape (the building was designed in 1937 for the needs of an international exhibition and afterwards remained empty for almost a quarter of a century but the museum was opened only in 2002) and concrete walls remind of a warehouse. Don't be fooled by the name of the museum, whatever takes place there has nothing to do with Japan. Palais de Tokyo is one of the newest museums in Paris, and the only one which stays open till midnight. It is an experimental exhibition hall allotted to various avant-garde art projects. The museum building houses also one of the best art bookshops in the city.
