Hotel Costes

Brothers Jean-Louis and Gilbert Costes are a parisian phenomenon. They are expert creators of cult spots, surprisingly consistent at that. The Hotel Costes, opened in 1995, is the heart of their empire. The interior is designed in the decadent style of a Napoleon III era boudoir, and yet it's not what matters most. The Costes brothers' places are made special by little details that form the intangible whole, the mood. The first thing you notice as soon as you enter the hotel is several hundreds of fragrant and sensuously half-opened roses. The bar is furnished with red velvet armchairs, walls are papered with slightly faded silk. Waiters look just like rest of the people in the room. Brothers Costes know their job well: volume 8 of the Hotel Costes CD has been released recently (available at the Virgin megastore cheaper than at the hotel), and the trademark scented candle is one of the favourite souvenirs here.
