Hotel Particulier Montmartre

Imagine yourself in Paris. You are in the very heart of Monmartre and stand in front of a wrought-iron gate of a white house in the midst of a garden. The house looks as old as an ivy twined tree in front of it...the Hotel Particulier de Montmartre is opened only in summers and currently is one of the most exceptions lodgings in Paris. It has just five luxurious suits of 45 to 80 square meters each, possessing individual and contemporary style, designed by well-known Parisian artists, designers, sculptors and architects. One of the suits conjures a feeling that the garden has come into a room, the other, named Poems and hats, features surreal cylinders in stead of lamps. It is designed by Olivier Saillard, a curator of the Paris Fashion museum. Also such gems as a chair by Arne Jacobsen Egg and interior items designed by Mies van der Rohe and Alvar Alto can be found there. The hotel's reading room contains books of art, architecture and design. A wonderful view of the garden, designed by Louis Benech, opens up from each window. Being one of the best known Parisian landscape designers, he has given a fresh look also to the legendary Tuileries gardens of Paris in 1996. Though in minds of many present day Montmartre associates with a night life and crowds of tourists, an aristocratic but at the same time full daring creativity atmosphere of the Hotel Particulier de Monmartre recalls times, when Salvador Dali, Klod Mone and Pablo Picasso, too, were among inhabitants of this neighborhood.
